Accessibility Statement

This website is run by TMP (UK) Limited. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:

  • The cookie preferences panels have two features that may present minor difficulties for some users of assitive technology.
  • On first visting the site the cookie message banner will appear. The browser focus will go to this banner and the keyboard navigation will be kept inside the banner’s controls. This is important so that the cookie choices are prominent to those using assistive technology.
  • A checkbox element within the Cookie Preferences tool has no label There is no minimal impact to users of assistive tech. This is part of a 3rd party integration that can only be fixed by the vendor.
  • The Team Structure image on the home page has poor contrast and small text. Its content is not suitable for alt text and there is no supporting text on the page that describes it.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Home Office is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content, WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum), WCAG 1.4.5 Images of Text

The home page contains an image of a team structure. It has poor contrast and small text. Its content is not suitable for alt text and there is no supporting text on the page that describes it. There is no near-term plan to make this diagram more accessible.

Disproportionate burden

Empty button in cookie preferences dialog

The cookie preferences dialog contains a button used to expand a text area and which has no text in it.

This area is open by default and is not expected to cause users of assistive technology difficulty when using the cookie preferences.

This entire feature is provided by a third party service which cannot be altered. The service is under constant revision and the vendors apply accessibility fixes as part of their maintenance routine.

We will assess the accessibility of this feature again at the next accessibility review of this site.

Cookie module keyboard trap

On first visiting the site the cookie message banner will appear. The browser focus will go to this banner and the keyboard navigation will be kept inside the banner’s controls. This is important so that the cookie choices are prominent to those using assistive technology.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
