Unlocking potential and pride in places.
Make the connection.
Project management is all about connections, between colleagues, contractors and, most importantly, end users. As a Project Manager here, your work will span sustainable transport and public realm improvements, business case development as well as innovative research and feasibility studies. Every day, you’ll safely and successfully connect more families, friends and visitors with businesses, places and each other, all across our county.
The role
We’re looking for a proven collaborator and negotiator who can help us bring projects to fruition. A decisive project manager, you will need to be used to maximising the efficiency and effectiveness at every stage of a project.
You’ll engage with funding providers, work with internal teams, and take a lead role in the commissioning, procurement and management of consultants. A big focus will revolve around helping us to meet our decarbonisation agenda, so your passion for improvement and innovation will be vital.
The team
Our strategic and collaborative Major Projects and Growth Team delivers vital transport, infrastructure and economic growth improvements. Current projects include work on Hastings and Eastbourne town centres, major transport infrastructure improvements to support housing and economic growth in South Wealden and along the A259 coastal corridor, and £70m of county-wide transport and economic infrastructure improvements.
About you
Ideally an accredited project management professional, but it’s your track record we’re interested in most. A confident communicator, you’ll have won funding bids and played a pivotal role on some key projects – expertly managing competing interests and changing priorities, while working to a wider strategy.
We recognise the benefits of supporting our staff to work flexibly and there are a range of ways in which service delivery and personal commitments can be balanced. We offer staff the opportunity to work in a hybrid way where the nature of their job role makes this possible and in a culture that places value on outputs that drive forward our strategic objectives and benefits our residents. However we also recognise the importance of always retaining a strong sense of belonging and team identity Additional benefits include a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension scheme, travel discounts, and more. But it’s the chance to create lasting connections across East Sussex you’ll find most attractive here, whilst being part of an excellent and rewarding team that is directly at the heart of driving sustainable economic growth, improving transport connectivity in the county and achieving net zero carbon emissions.
We make diversity, equity, and inclusion part of everything we do – our projects, our strategies and our workforce. It’s the only way to ensure our county gets the connections it needs and deserves.
